NPFL: IMC urges teams to approach second stanza with excellence
As the second stanza of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL is set to start, the Interim Management Committee expects teams to embrace the best form of standard, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The league went on a month break after nine matches and will resume this weekend as hostilities are set to begin in various match centers across the country.
The chairman of the committee, Gbenga Elegbeye commended the teams for their efforts in the first stanza and tasked them on finishing better the remaining part of the league.
“We first of all want to commend the clubs and their players for a near perfect first stanza of the season and for the rest of the season, the highest standards of excellence in quality of play and adherence to the rules is required”
He reiterated the body's commitment to better officiating and fairness for all clubs in the league.
“Our commitment to fairness on and off the field of play is even reinforced by our determination to have only the very best clubs qualifying for the play-off at the end of the season”, Elegbeleye assured and tasked the clubs to provide value for fans through improved standard of play.
Action continues this weekend with a headline fixture in Aba between Enyimba FC and Bendel Insurance, and to be shown live on TV.
The league which adopts an abridged format sees Bendel Insurance lead the group A standings while Lobi Stars top group B with 19 points.
