Nasarawa United head coach, Kabir Dogo has said his side will not underrate the Federation Cup round of 64-match opponents, FC Abuja.

The Solid Miners will confront the third tier league side on Thursday at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna for a place in the last 32.

Dogo said his side will throw their full weight into the game to avoid the surprises of the annual football showpiece in the land to unsuspecting teams.

“Characteristically, you do not underrate or overrate any side in the Federation Cup so irrespective of the fact that both sides play in different leagues we will come out strongly to win the encounter.

“We will use maximally the advantage that we have seen our league, Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) run halfway mark compared with our opponents, FC Abuja that their league, Nigeria Nationwide League (NNWL) is yet to gather momentum.

“The fact remains that FC Abuja play in the league with quality players that can ruffle feathers we will not take chance more so as the encounter is almost a derby.

“We have our eyes beyond the round of 64 matches so we will do the very best to ensure we successfully cross the hurdle posed by FC Abuja,” said the former ABS coach to supersport.com.

The Lafia-based side ended their 2015 Federation Cup campaign in the semifinals in the hands of the eventual winners, Akwa United who piped the side 1-0 in Abeokuta.
