No contract for Bevan
Wellington Phoenix are still looking to add to their squad before the start of the A-League season, after a number of trialists failed to earn deals.
Coach Ufuk Talay took the opportunity to bring in a crop of six trialists last month, including New Zealand international forward Myer Bevan.
Two of the hopefuls did earn deals with the Phoenix in mid-July but Bevan and the rest have moved on, leaving Talay with a number of spots still to fill.
The club have had 14 players leave since the end of last season, including former captain Andrew Durante who followed ex-coach Mark Rudan to expansion side Western United.
It meant Talay needed to preside over a dramatic rebuild of his squad - particularly up front - with last season's two top scorers Roy Krishna and David Williams having left.
Bevan, who has played twice for the All Whites, was not offered a contract but two other New Zealand internationals - Tim Payne and Te Atawhai Hudson-Wihongi - have signed up on one-year deals.
Among the other players whose trial stints didn't end successfully were Papua New Guinea international forward Tommy Semmy, former Brisbane Roar midfielder Joe Caletti and Dutch winger Xander Houtkoop.
The Phoenix only have 18 players currently registered for the new season, including Ben Waine who is on a scholarship contract.
Durante's successor as captain is former Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor who did well in his maiden Phoenix campaign last year.
Having taken the armband after the club played the last 11 years under Durante, Taylor made a winning start in the role in the 7-0 pre-season win over Wairarapa United in Masterton.
Among those on target were new forwards David Ball and Jaushua Sotirio, who both bagged doubles.
Right-back Louis Fenton is not expected back for next month's FFA Cup match against Brisbane Strikers due to complications with his broken foot.
