NNL24: Unstoppable Madiba FC win Lagos derby
The Lagos derby played on Friday afternoon at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Stadium, Lagos, between 1472 FC and Madiba FC ended in a 3-2 win for Madiba FC as Nigeria National League Southern Conference Group A enters Match Day 6.
Dada Oladimeji put Madiba FC in the lead as early as the 3rd minute to increase his tally to 6 goals in 6 matches.
Ajibola Ololade doubled the lead for Madiba FC in the 13th minute with a brilliant shot from outside the 18-yard box, leaving 1472 FC with a mountain to climb.
In the 31st minute, Abara Ifeanyi of 1472 FC reduced the deficit for the host of the afternoon.
Fasina Samson restored Madiba FC 2 goals lead in the 40 minute with a well-executed header from a Dada Oladimeji free kick.
In the 70th minute, Durugbo Pascha of 1472 FC broke through Madiba FC's defense, scoring his team's second in the process.
1472 FC pushed for the equalizer but the resilient Madiba FC defense held on till the end as they secure yet another win on the road.
With this victory, Madiba FC now stand clear at the top with 16 points from 6 matches. They'll hope to continue their unbeaten run when they play host to Smart City FC in another Lagos derby scheduled for January 5.
