NNL'23: Kogi United rally back to share spoils at home against EFCC
EFCC and Kogi United played a one all draw at the end of their match day 5 encounter of the 2023 Nigeria National League at the Sport Area 3 Sport Complex on Friday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Abuja based side had to come back from a goal down to get a point at the end of regulation time.
Garba Mohammed had given the guests the lead as early as the fourth minute as he capitalised on EFCC defence blunder.
The Host would be level three minutes later, but a great save by Rabiu Umar kept the score the same.
EFCC kept pressing for the equaliser, but United remained resolute to keep score in their favour.
Meanwhile, the Visitors had their own chance to double the lead, but Hamza Dauda volley was well saved by Saludeen following a pass from Femi Adewumi.
In the 41st minute, a controversial call for a penalty was made by the referee in favour of the home side after what seemed a foul on an EFCC player. Egaji Joshua stepped up and sent Rabiu Umar the wrong way to make it 1-1.
The second half was no different from the first 45 minutes as it was an end to end affair.
Rabiu Umar had saved his side from an impending disaster after he came out to deny Osadebe Gift opportunity to score in the 59th minute.
Later on it was time for United's Saka and Garba to cause some trouble in the half of the Host, but it averted.
Kogi United held on amidst pressure from the home team to secure a point after the final whistle.
EFCC remain bottom of the NNL Northern Conference group A1 log while Kogi United are third.
