Gateway United's hope of moving top of Southern Conference group B2 of was dashed on Monday as bottom placed Joy Cometh, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

With the previous match day clashes in the group ending in stalemates, Gateway United had their eyes on the top spot of the group which only a win can get them but they fell to a 2-0 loss to Joy Cometh at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Lagos.

At the rock bottom of the table, one would've thought the game will be a walkover for Gateway United who seems to need the game more than their host who were without a win prior to the game but it was a different twist as Lawal Kehinde gave Joy Cometh an early lead in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Gateway United pilled all the pressure on their host for an immediate equaliser but all efforts proved fruitless as the first half ended 1-0.

With just two minutes into the restart, Otaniyi Taofeek doubled the advantage for Joy Cometh, leaving United with a huge mountain to climb.

Penalty was awarded to Gateway United in the 75th minutes but Salifu Haruna blew away the lifeline as the game ended 2-0.

It was Joy Cometh's first win of the campaign. They remain bottom of the log, a point behind Gateway United who occupies the 5th place on the 6 teams table.
