Ijebu United have been sanctioned by the management of Nigeria National League (NNL) and have been slapped with a fine of N1,000,000.

This is due to their refusal to honor their matchday 22 league game against Rovers Football Club on Saturday, August 27.

A statement to that effect added that United failed to communicate their absence to the away team and participated in a preseason tournament on the same weekend.

It will be recalled that  Ijebu United failled to show up for their game and participated in the just concluded Value Jet Pre-season Tournament where they received N250,000 (only) as appearance fee.

NNL observed that the Ijebu team preferred the preseason tournament and their action was intentional.

Consequently, the team is fined a million naira for the following:

Indemnities - N 225,000

Hiring of field - N 150,000

Other logistics - N 625,000
