NLO Suspend Peace FC Over Illegal Registration of NNL Players
The Nationwide League One (NLO) has handed heavy sanctions to Peace FC of Anambra after the club was found guilty of illegally registering and fielding players already attached to Nigeria National League (NNL) sides, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
According to the NLO, Peace FC breached several provisions relating to player eligibility and amateur status under Articles 3:01 (5), (8), (11), (13), and 9:02 after submitting falsified registration documents.
The players involved in the case were identified as Abasim Henry of Solution FC, Mbakaogu Chibuike of EDEL FC, and Ekwo Stanley, also of Solution FC.
The league body disclosed that the violations were discovered during a routine verification process, which subsequently led to disciplinary action against the club.
Following a sitting held on May 19, 2026, the NLO Disciplinary Committee ruled that Peace FC’s conduct amounted to serious misconduct capable of tarnishing the integrity of the amateur league system.
As part of the punishment, the club will forfeit all matches in which the ineligible players featured, with affected opponents awarded three points and a 3-0 victory, or any higher score already recorded in those fixtures.
Peace FC were also fined N500,000, payable to the NLO Secretariat within seven days.
In addition, the club has been suspended from all NLO competitions for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season and placed on probation for the next two campaigns.
The league further warned that any future breach during the probation period could result in harsher sanctions, including possible expulsion from the competition.
A club official found culpable in the matter has also been banned from all football-related activities under the NLO for 12 months.
The ruling takes immediate effect, although Peace FC still reserves the right to appeal the decision before the Nigeria Football Federation Appeals Committee within 72 hours, in line with league regulations.
