NLO Steps Down Referee Olaniran, Orders Replay of Yewa FC vs Juvenile FC
The Nationwide League One (NLO) has announced the immediate stepping down of referee Akinyemi Olaniran from officiating matches in the division following complaints over his performances, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
In a statement released by the league body, the decision was reached after a review of several complaints submitted against the referee, particularly regarding his handling of matches at the Abeokuta Centre.
According to the NLO, concerns were raised over Olaniran's officiating during the fixtures involving Yewa FC and Juvenile FC, as well as an earlier encounter between Best Talents FC and Yewa FC.
As part of the disciplinary measures, the league has ordered a replay of the match between Yewa FC and Juvenile FC.
The NLO stated that the actions were taken in line with its commitment to maintaining fairness, transparency and the integrity of the competition.
League organisers further reiterated their determination to uphold high officiating standards throughout the season, stressing that any issues capable of undermining the credibility of the championship would be addressed promptly.
The development is expected to have implications for the standings at the Abeokuta Centre, with the replayed fixture likely to play a crucial role in determining the fortunes of the affected teams as the season progresses.
