Nigeria’s Sand Eagles beaten 6-4 by Senegal in second Kaduna friendly

Nigeria’s Sand Eagles were beaten 6-4 by Senegal in their second friendly at the Murtala Muhammed Square Beach Soccer Pitch in Kaduna on Monday.

The defeat gave Senegal a second victory in as many meetings, after the reigning African champions also won the opening match 6-4 last Saturday.

Hassan Abdullahi, who scored all four of Nigeria’s goals in the first game, found the net again for the hosts. Hamza Manga, Sodiq Umar and Hassan Abubakar were also on target for the Sand Eagles.

Senegal’s scorers included Man of the Match Oussaynou Faye, Libasse Mbaye, Mamadou Sylla, Assane Ba and Mandione Laye Diagne. Nigeria’s Godspower Igudia also scored an own goal.

The two matches formed part of Nigeria’s preparations for their CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie against Ghana later this month.

Senegal are using the fixtures to prepare for the Beach Soccer AFCON, although they have already secured their place in the tournament as hosts.

Nigeria will face Ghana in the first leg of the qualifying tie at the Murtala Muhammed Square Beach Soccer Pitch in Kaduna on Saturday, October 10. The Sand Eagles will then travel to Accra for the return leg on Saturday, October 17.

The team that prevails over the two legs will qualify for the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.
