Having arrived in Morocco, the Super Eagles will be playing Sao Tome and Principe in the AFCON qualifiers match on Monday, June 13th, 2022, at the Stade d'Agadir in Morocco.

This will be the Super Eagles' fourth game under new manager Jose Peseiro who will be preparing to get the second win of his short tenure.

Nigeriasoccernet.com has all the information needed ahead of the crunch game between the two countries.

Match preview:

Having won the first game of the AFCONQ against Sierra Leone last Thursday with a 2-1 scoreline, the Super Eagles will be hoping to build on that success by recording a consecutive victory against Sao Tome.

On the other hand, Sao Tome suffered a 5-1 defeat to Guinea Bissau despite going ahead in the game through 22-year-old Ebanilson Viegas.

There hasn't been any encounter between Nigeria's Super Eagles and Sao Tome as the Falcons have neither qualified for the World Cup nor the AFCON in their history.

Super Eagles squad list;

Goalkeepers (3): Francis Uzoho (Omonia); Adewale Adeyinka (Akwa United); Adebayo Adeleye (Hapoel Jerusalem)

Defenders (9): Olaoluwa Aina (Torino); Abdullahi Shehu (Omonia); Zaidu Sanusi (Porto); Chidozie Awaziem (Alanyaspor); Oluwasemilogo Ajayi (West Brom); Calvin Bassey (Rangers); Sani Faisal (Katsina United); Leon Balogun (free agent); Kenneth Omeruo (Leganes)

Midfielders (4) : Joseph Ayodele-Aribo (Rangers); Alex Iwobi (Everton); Oghenekaro Etebo (Stoke); Frank Onyeka (Brentford)

Forwards (9) : Ahmed Musa (Fatih Karagumruk); Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal); Moses Simon (Nantes); Victor Osimhen (Napoli); Cyriel Dessers (Genk); Ademola Lookman (Leicester); Sadiq Umar (Almeria); Terem Moffi (Lorient), Emmanuel Dennis (Watford).

What to expect;

A dominant game for the Super Eagles. Regardless of the structure or formation of both teams, the sheer quality of the Nigerian players will ensure that they dominate early proceedings.

However, chances must be taken quickly as the longer it takes to score, the more frustration sets in and boost Sao Tome's belief.

Football is a funny old game and nothing is set in stone but it would be surprising if Sao Tome are able to cause an upset by defeating the Super Eagles.

Fans can expect an attacking game of football from Peseiro who may use this game as an opportunity to utilise the full attacking capacity of his new team.

Kickoff Time/Venue :

The 2023 AFCON qualifiers match between Nigeria and Sao Tome will kick off at exactly 1400 hours Nigerian time at Agadir Stadium in Morocco.
