Nigeria FA confirms Odegbami for FIFA presidential race, ex-international unaware
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) insiders claim Chief Segun Odegbami has been confirmed as the country's sole candidate at the upcoming FIFA presidential election but the former Super Eagles star is unaware of the endorsement.
If the report is true, it means the NFF has chosen the former striker over the former Governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu.
Kalu, whose reign in the state saw Enyimba FC winning the CAF Champions League twice, was also in the race but with the NFF endorsement it means he is likely to put his ambition to rest.
An insider revealed that the football house on Friday decided to give Odegbami the go-ahead to be the country's sole candidate at the election.
"I have only been hearing it, many people have been calling to ask but I have not been called officially from the FA but I hope it is true," Chief Odegbami told Complete Sports.
The election is expected to be held on February 26 in Switzerland.
