NFF Boss talks tough as he inauguarates referee, match commissioners' committee
Nigeria Football Federation, NFF president, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau inauguarated the referee and match commissioners committee on Thursday in Abuja, warning them that impunity will not be tolerated.
Gusau warned that no official who commits any offence will be left unpunished as it will be a different ball game this time.
He firstly thanked the committees for accepting to serve and urged them to do their duties diligently.
“I want to thank you for accepting to serve on the committees. We took our time to come out with people who are known to us and they are selected on merit. They are people of character and integrity. Under my watch, we will make sure you make proper appointments and we will make the environment conducive for you.
“We are making everything possible to make sure that we make prompt payment of the match officials as well as their allowances. The referees that will officiate in the league must have passed through you and we want them to know that we won’t allow any form of sabotage. I will not condone any form of indiscipline or anything that will bring the game into disrepute. We really want to change our football and do what is right because very soon, a lot of us will smile,” Gusau said.
“The onus is on the committees as we will keenly monitor the performances of your appointees and be dispassionate in our assessment. Anyone found wanting will be thrown out without ceremony, and be visited with further sanctions. The NFF is determined to change the narrative in the league and there is no going back. Please help us to have a new league that all stakeholders will be proud of,” Gusau said.
Chairman of the Match Commissioners Committee and NFF Board Member, Alhaji Babagana Kalli promised that he and his team carry out their duties well.
On her part, Mrs Faith Irabor, who chairs the Referees Committee, stated that the narrative will change in order to grow football in the country.
