German coach, Bruno Labbadia has been appointed as the new Super Eagles head coach, Nigerasoccernet.com can report.

After months of waiting since the resignation of coach Finidi George, the Men national team of Nigeria have finally appointed Bruno Labbadia to lead the team through the FIFA 2026 and CAF 2025 qualifiers.

The announcement was made in the early hours of Tuesday via the social media handle of the The Nigeria Football Federation.

"German, Bruno Labbadia, becomes 37th Head Coach of the @NGSuperEagles The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that it has reached an agreement with German tactician, Bruno Labbadia, to become the Head Coach of Nigeria’s Senior Men National Team, Super Eagles," the statement reads.

Making the announcement in the wee hours of Tuesday, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said: “The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles. The appointment is with immediate effect.”

His first assignment will be to lead the Super Eagles out on Saturday 7th of September, 2024 for the matchday one clash with Benin Republic of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
