Asante Kotoko coach David Duncan has revealed his players were running low on confidence when he first took over the job.

The 51-year-old led the side to an impressive 3-1 win over Bechem United in just his first game in charge of the side on Sunday.

The win at Bechem was Kotoko’s first in seven games and now lifts the side out from the relegation zone in the Ghanaian top flight.

Duncan who is noted for his ability to motivate revealed his players were running low on confidence following a string of poor results.

“I thought the players were low on confidence and the psychological aspect of the game is key,” he said after the win over Bechem United.

“You can have the best of players but if they are not well psyched and motivated, they will not be able to perform.”

Kotoko next takes on Liberty Professionals before they host MC El Eulma in the return leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary qualifier.
