Napoli consider January move for Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall

Napoli are weighing up a January approach for Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall, with Barcelona also keeping watch on the Sweden international’s situation.

Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini reports that the Serie A champions are looking to strengthen in midfield as uncertainty surrounds Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Stanislav Lobotka and Kevin De Bruyne.

Bergvall, who was the subject of interest from Italian clubs during the summer, could be available when the transfer window reopens.

The Sweden international joined Tottenham with a strong reputation but has found it difficult to secure a regular place in the side under manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Napoli see Bergvall as a potential addition to their midfield, although Barcelona’s interest could make any negotiations more difficult.

A move to Italy could give Bergvall more opportunities to play regularly at first-team level and provide a chance to rebuild his progress after a frustrating period in the Premier League.
