Ebenezer Asante, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of communication giants MTN-Ghana, will be among the dignitaries to grace the 40th Edition of MTN/SWAG Awards, slated for Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Banquet Hall, State House, Accra.

Ebenezer Asante, the first ever Ghanaian to head the communication giants, who affirmed the commitment of the company to the annual event is expected to use the occasion to further strengthen the long standing relationship between the associating and MTN.

It will also be the first official event of SWAG to be attended by the newly appointed CEO of MTN.

Mr. Asante who replaced South African Mr. Serame Taukobong, will be the second CEO of MTN to participate in the prestigious event which confers honours on distinguished sports men and women.

The 40th MTN SWAG Awards will confer honours on 25 sports men and women who distinguished themselves in the 2014 sporting calendar year.

MTN- Ghana will be the official headline sponsor of the event for the fifth time in the 40 years history of the annual event.

Over the years, the SWAG Awards have been attended by sitting Heads of State, including H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor, traditional rulers like the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin II, as well as international sporting dignitaries such as AIPS president, Gianni Merlo; South Africa FIFA 2010 World Cup chief, Danny Jordaan.

Since its inception in 1974, the MTN-SWAG Awards has been Ghana’s most esteemed celebration of sporting excellence and provided the biggest platform to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Ghana sports. It attracts the cream of Ghana’s sports personalities and high-profile invited guests, including sitting Heads of State.
