Midfielder Elijah Akanni set to leave Enyimba for Katsina United
Nigerian midfielder, Elijah Akanni, is on the verge of joining Katsina United from Enyimba FC, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Akanni's contract with the nine-time NPFL champions expired at the end of the 2024-25 season, and he is expected to finalize his move to Katsina United before the new season kicks off.
The 23-year-old has been with Enyimba since 2022 and featured regularly for the team under coach Stanley Eguma last season.
Katsina United have reportedly opened contract talks with Akanni, and the player is likely to seal his transfer soon.
It's worth noting that Akanni had a setback last year due to an ACL injury but seems to have recovered.
With this potential transfer, Akanni's career path will take a new turn as he joins Katsina United ahead of the new NPFL season.
