Middlesbrough legend tips Ghana star Albert Adomah to steer club to Premier League on Monday
Middlesbrough legend Peter Beagrie is expecting Ghana ace Albert Adomah to be the star player in an “amazing head-to-head” in Monday’s play-off final and believes Boro have the edge after their impressive dismantling of Brentford.
The ex-Boro winger says the Ghana winger must excel if they are to defeat Norwich on Monday night to seal their return to the English Premier League.
And he identified the Ghanaian among the stand-out players who could be key for Boro in the huge season decider under the arch.
"They (Middlesbrough) have the lightning pace of Albert Adomah who was at the forefront of their semi-final triumph," Beagrie told Sky Sports.
"If Middlesbrough are going to sit in deep and Leadbitter and Clayton are going to sacrifice themselves for the team, they'll be looking to get Adomah on the ball.
"If Bamford starts instead of Kike, Vossen could drop in behind him and that means Tomlin plays off the left. They are a bit lopsided because Adomah stays with chalk on his boots and it always the out-ball."
Beagrie believes Boro’s performance against Brentford at the Riverside was the stand-out display in the semi-final ties and says the fact Aitor Karanka was able to resist the temptation to start Patrick Bamford shows the strength in depth available to him.
