Michael Carrick’s Manchester United future remains under review after Roma win
Manchester United’s comeback victory over Roma in the Champions League has eased pressure on manager Michael Carrick, according to Sky Sports.
United came from behind to win 3-2, a result which has improved the club hierarchy’s view of Carrick’s position. It was the team’s first victory in their past 10 matches and has given the squad greater belief after a difficult run.
However, the result has not completely settled the manager’s future. Manchester United’s leadership recognise that one encouraging performance will not be enough and are looking for greater consistency from the team.
The club would prefer Carrick to turn the situation around, but United are also actively considering several potential replacements should a change be made.
Manchester United do not plan to appoint an interim manager if Carrick leaves, according to the report.
Carrick’s side are 17th in the Premier League table with seven points.
