Mbeumo to captain Cameroon in CAN 2027 opener against Comoros

Cameroon begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Comoros at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua at 19:00 GMT.

Coach David Pagou has opted for continuity in his tactical approach, with Blondy Noukeu set to start in goal after being confirmed as the goalkeeper during the pre-match press conference.

Bryan Mbeumo will wear the captain’s armband as Cameroon field a young and ambitious side against the Comoros, known as the Cœlacanthes.

Pagou’s expected formation features three central defenders, supported by two wing-backs. Danny Namaso is expected to operate behind a front two in the attacking setup.
