Maxwell Konadu and Nassam Yakubu will stay on as Ghana assistant coach and goalkeepers' trainer respectively after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) revealed that they will not make changes to the technical team of the Black Stars.

Reports in the Ghanaian media had suggested that coach Avram Grant has requested changes to his backroom staff with the duo heading for the exit after the country's excellent showing at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Israeli manager was reported not to be happy with the technical team which has been in place before he took over the side.

It was speculated that Grant wants Spanish trianer Gus Gerard as his assistant while he wants ex-international goalkeeper Abubakari Damba to take over from Yakubu.

However, GFA Executive Committee member and chairman of the Black Stars management committee George Afriyie says no such changes have been requested by the Israeli manager.

“With the changes to the backroom staff of the Black Stars, the Coach indicated before his appointment that he will first want to work with them and know whether he will need to upgrade their level of competence,” Mr. Afriyie told Starr FM.

“If he thinks that if there is somebody there that he cannot work with, then he will make recommendations to the management team. Now, we have not received any such thing so we stick to what we have,” he added.

Nassam and Konadu all contributed to Ghana successes at the AFCON.

The Ghana FA must let goYakubu Nasamu. The reason is simple and clear. We have interest in Adam Kwarassey that can serve the country at least the next decade. Also, Nasamu seemed to be out of realities with the modern game and, besides that fact, the misunderstanding between Nasam and Kwarassey needs to be reviewed and perhaps that may reveal the real reason why Nasamu should go. I agreed to the idea that goalkeepers trainer don't have to be perfect in his days of action which Yakubu was one of the worse performers of his days. I think George Owu should be given the nod instead. I end up with the fact that the rift between Kwarassey and Nasamu is a hinderance hence Yakubu should make way out of that position for a fresh hands and mind.

Well said, Tanko. My take is, keep Maxwell K if Avram wants him. N. Yakubu's case is a different kettle of fish. His bias against Kwarasey was too obvious. He had his turn, now bring in a new keeper's coach and let's start afresh.

Nasamu Yakubu should be kept with the team just like the other technical team members. The current team is superb and any player who thinks he is bigger than Ghana can go to hell.
