Matvey Safonov discusses whether a Russian player can become the world’s best

Matvey Safonov has responded to a question about whether a Russian footballer could one day be recognised as the best player in the world.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper has played for French club PSG since 2024. During his time with the Parisian side, Safonov has won the UEFA Champions League twice in succession with the team.

Safonov’s contract with PSG runs until the end of June 2029. His market value is currently estimated at 30m euros.
