Matic hails Sanchez show
Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has hailed the character of team-mate Alexis Sanchez following his goalscoring performance against former club Arsenal.
The Chilean international opened the scoring against the Gunners as United won their eighth game in a row under their interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Jesse Lingard added a second with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pulling one back, only for substitute Anthony Martial to wrap up a comfortable 3-1 victory in the FA Cup showdown.
Having struggled since leaving north London for Old Trafford a year ago, Sanchez took his fifth goal for the Red Devils well.
Solskjaer claimed after the encounter that the performance it can be the springboard Sanchez needs to kick-start his career at United and Matic also insists the South American's work ethic means he will come good again.
"Alexis has great character," Matic said. "He works every training session at 100 per cent and I'm happy for him because when you work like that, in the game, you can't play bad so he is doing very well.
"He is a great guy. I'm happy for him because he must understand he is a very important player for us."
United are 6/4 to finish in the top four this season.
