Sekondi Hasaacas recorded their second win to stay second in the campaign as they sneaked past New Edubiase United 1-0 at the Essipong Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Midfielder Roger Lamptey connected home a rebound from a Samuel Afful saved penalty in the 85th minute to claim the maximum points at stake as Edubiase continued their winless run.

Yussif Basigi's men went into the game having held title-holders Asante Kotoko to a 2-2 draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi and were hoping for an easy ride over Edubiase.

But the Movers were hard nuts to crack as Hasaacas had to wait until the last minutes to win the game.

Edubiase had contained all the pressure from the host with Fuseinin Nuhu and the rest of the defence defending gallantly for Edubiase.

However with the game seemingly heading for a stalemate, Lamptey won the game for the host after Samuel Afful missed his penalty.

Fuseini Nuhu had handled the ball inside the box and the central referee had awarded a penalty to Hasaacas with very little complains from Edubiase.

However Afful watched keeper George Arthur saved his kick before Lamptey arrived just in time to finish off the effort with a timely bullet from the area.

Edubiase still remain in the drop zone while Hasaacas are second on the section with seven points.
