Asante Kotoko were brought down to earth by crushing a heavy 3-1 defeat to Liberty Professionals on the road.

The defending champions were seeking to build on last Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Great Olympics in Accra but that fizzled into thin air.

However, Kotoko opened the scoring through Ahmed Toure on four minutes to give the Porcupine Warriors hope.

But Liberty snatched the equalizer in the 21st minute through Latif Blessing.

After the break, in-form Kennedy Ashia put the home side ahead with a fine finish on 75 minutes.

As Kotoko pushed for the equalizer, Alfred Nelson delivered the hammer blow by scoring the third three minutes into added time.

The result improved Liberty Professionals to 4th with 30 points while Asante Kotoko slipped 9th.
