Juan Mata said he was happy to pledge his future to Manchester United because he wants "to win big trophies again" at Old Trafford.

The 31-year-old Spain international has been at the club since January 2014 when then boss David Moyes took him from Chelsea in a deal worth £37.1million.

I am very happy to stay here. I am dreaming about winning big trophies at this club. That is what the fans deserve.

Juan Mata

Mata just missed out on United's last Premier League win in 2013 in Sir Alex Ferguson's final season in charge, while he has played under Moyes, Ryan Giggs, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during a turbulent five-and-half-years at the club.

He has won the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Europa League while at United but, after signing a new two-year contract extension in June, Mata is targeting more silverware.

He said: "We know we have to do better than last season. This club has won more trophies than any other club in England.

"The feeling of being a Manchester United player is so unique. I am very happy to stay here. I am dreaming about winning big trophies at this club. That is what the fans deserve.

"We want to win big trophies again. That is what the history of this club deserves."

United are 25/1 to win the Premier League this season, while they are priced at 11/2 to emulate their 2017 Europa League success.
