Paris Saint-Germain star Marquinhos has urged his team-mate Neymar to stay with the Ligue 1 champions, amid speculation regarding the striker's future.

Reports have suggested Neymar is looking for a return to his former club Barcelona, having failed to settle at the Parc des Princes since his record transfer.

Brazil team-mate Marquinhos knows the importance of Neymar to PSG's European ambitions and has urged the former Santos star to remain in the French capital.

"It's difficult to recruit a player like him into your club and it's hard to keep him, but I hope he'll continue with us," Marquinhos said. "He is an important player, he's also a friend, a guy I love, and I really hope he'll stay.

"We have not talked about his future, I guess there are already a lot of people who only talk to him about it."

Barcelona appear to be in the box seat to take him back but there is a long way to go before a deal can be hammered out with PSG, as it appears to be complicated to say the least.

PSG are 8/1 to win the Champions League next season, while Liverpool are 7/1 to retain their European crown.
