Maresca praises Anderson as Manchester City midfielder makes perfect start

Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca says he has been “very impressed” by Elliot Anderson after the midfielder started each of the club’s first four official matches of the season.

The 23-year-old has featured from the opening whistle in every competitive game played by Manchester City so far, underlining the role he has immediately taken on since joining the club.

Anderson completed the full match in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Coventry, helping Manchester City secure another win without being substituted. His involvement in all four fixtures has made him one of the most consistent selections at the beginning of the campaign.

Maresca’s assessment of Anderson follows a strong opening run for the England midfielder, who has quickly become a regular choice in the Manchester City line-up. The head coach expressed his admiration for the player after seeing him maintain his place across the club’s early schedule.

“I am very impressed,” Maresca said of Anderson.

The midfielder’s latest appearance came in a narrow success against Coventry. Manchester City claimed the three points with a 1-0 result, with Anderson on the pitch from start to finish as the team held on to victory.
