Maresca explains why Manchester City defender Nico O’Reilly missed England squad

Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca says Nico O’Reilly was left out of England’s squad for the November internationals because the defender is not fully fit.

O’Reilly began experiencing back problems before Manchester City’s match against Coventry, and subsequently developed further issues, according to Maresca.

“He started having problems with his back before the game against Coventry, and then other problems appeared,” Maresca said.

“Unfortunately, at the moment he is not 100% fit.”

The 21-year-old has made 13 appearances for England and has provided one assist during that run.

England will play two UEFA Nations League matches in November, facing Croatia and Spain.
