Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi has expressed delight with his partnership with Union Berlin teammate, Max Kruse.

The German international has played a crucial role in the goals scored by the former Golden Eaglets star. The 33-year-old provided the assists to two of Awoniyi’s three league goals in the Bundesliga.

Awoniyi has hit the back of the net in each of Union’s last three league matches, scoring against Bayer Leverkusen, Hoffenheim, and Gladbach.

However, in a chat with Hindustan Times, the Nigerian international stated that he has gained a lot from Kruse’s wealth of experience.

“He’s just an exceptional player,” Awoniyi said of Kruse, as per the Hindustan Times.

“He has a lot of experience in the game. He knows everything he wants to do every time he has the ball.

“Once you play with him, he knows where you are, you know where he is, and I think this has helped me to learn a lot… it’s good for both of us at the moment.’

The 24-year old striker who rejoined The Iron Ones from Liverpool on a permanent deal this July, after spending the entirety of last season at the Berlin-based club needs two more goals to match his last season’s tally of five in twenty-one appearances.
