"?Championship club Reading have completed the signing of Liverpool's Portuguese defender Tiago Ilori, "?BBC Sport have reported.

A fee believed to be £3.75m has been agreed between the two clubs for the centre-back, who has failed to establish himself at Anfield since arriving from Sporting Lisbon for £7m in 2013.

The London-born 23-year-old has represented Portugal at youth level, and had loan spells at Aston Villa, Granada and Bordeaux since his arrival at Liverpool in 2013.

A 25% sell on clause has been agreed in his contract with the Championship's third placed side.

Ilori spent the first half of this season playing for Liverpool's U23 team having been unable to force his way into manager Jurgen Klopp's consideration for the first team, despite defensive frailties, and has only made three appearances for the Reds in total - all in last season's FA Cup.

It's unclear as yet whether Klopp will be looking to bring anyone in to replace the defender, who will join Reading attempting to aid Jaap Stam's promotion push.

The once imposing defender may be the perfect manager to kick start the once-promising centre back's ailing career.
