Lyon club president Jean-Michel Aulas hopes Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema will return one day to the Groupama Stadium and finish his career with Olympique Lyonnais.
The French ace began his career at Lyon in 2004 and rose to heights, which caught the eyes of Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez. He spent five years at the club before Madrid bought him for a sum of €35m in 2009.
Aulas said: “The future will tell us if, when he ends his career, there is a possibility of strengthening ties. "He has had an exceptional career at Real Madrid and in the French team. It is a great source of pride because he is a child of OL."
Benzema played 148 games for Lyon, scoring 66 goals and registering 26 assists in the process. He also won four successive French league titles with the club.
