As first reported by Spanish newspaper Marca, Getafe are on the lookout for a new centre-back to strengthen their back third of the pitch.

After it was rumored that el azulon was after Villarreal's own Pau Torres, it now seems they are targeting Jorge Cuenca, who also plays for el submarino amarillo, due to the fact that Torres has declined an offer from Tottenham to stay with Villarreal. Cuenca is an interesting prospect, having already made several appearances with Spain Under-21 squad, and Getafe would be a place where he would surely feature in the starting eleven more times than at Villarreal. Villarreal are however not convinced in letting  him leave, as they are going to have to play in three competitions this season: Liga, Copa de Espana and Champions League. Cuenca would give the team depth at a crucial position.

We'll see if Cuenca stays at Villarreal or if Getafe management are able to pry him away.
