Neil Lennon says the money Celtic received for Kieran Tierney can help the club 'push the boat out' in pursuit of their own targets this month.

Tierney joined Arsenal on transfer deadline day in England for a fee of £25m as the Gunners finally ended their summer-long chase for the Scotland left-back.

The Parkhead manager suggests the money will be reinvested in the playing squad, though Lennon has ruled out being held to ransom between now and the Scottish window closing no 2nd September.

It makes things a little bit easier in terms of maybe pushing the boat out a little bit more.

"It makes things a little bit easier in terms of maybe pushing the boat out a little bit more, but we're not going to break transfer records and spend silly money," Lennon said of the Tierney deal.

"We have targets in mind and we are working away on that sooner or later.

"We are looking at maybe two or three positions to add.

"We also maybe need to move a few players on to get them playing or make room in the squad. Until we do that, we may not look to bring anyone in just yet."

Celtic also rebuffed interest in Callum McGregor from Lennon's predecessor Brendan Rodgers and his Leicester City side, after they launched a late attempt to take the midfielder to England.

"It's well documented that there was interest in Callum. It was just an approach, no bid. That's over now and we will settle him down," Lennon added.

"He is playing as well as he has ever done and hopefully he will again have another fantastic season as he has done the last couple."

Lennon revealed no 'serious offer' came in for Scott Sinclair and suggested the winger would return to his squad for Saturday's trip to Motherwell.

Celtic are 15/2 to win 3-0 at Fir Park, with the home side priced at 8/1 and the draw a 4/1 chance.
