Leicester City Set to Make Improved Bids for Robbie Brady and Michael Keane Using Kante's £30m Fee
"?Premier League champions Leicester City are set to use N'Golo Kante's £30m transfer fee on bids for Norwich City's Robbie Brady and Burnley's Michael Keane, according to reports in the"?Mirror.
Earlier in the transfer window Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri admitted that he would not stop any players from leaving, and that is exactly what happened, as France international Kante turned down a £100k-a-week deal at Leicester to join Antonio Conte's Chelsea.
Ranieri has already reinvested some of the cash, spending £12m on Nampalys Mendy from Nice, who also plays in a holding midfield role.
The Tinkerman knows of Mendy's ability well, having handed him his break in football at Monaco in 2012.
Now with the remaining cash from Kante's transfer, Ranieri is planning to improve offers for Robbie Brady and Michael Keane, after bids were rejected earlier this month.
There is also pressure on Leicester to improve a number of contracts for star players, including Kasper Schmeichel, Danny Drinkwater and Riyad Mahrez.
Schmeichel, who earned a staggering 15 clean sheets last season, wants to see his current £45k-a-week deal doubled, and with two years remaining on his contract Leicester will have to act fast to fend off interest from other clubs.
Another player that performed superbly in the heart of Leicester's midfield last season was Danny Drinkwater. The 26-year old is currently earning £30k-a-week but reportedly wants it increased after a superb season at the King Power stadium.
Lastly, PFA player of the year Riyad Mahrez will need to be offered another new deal as Europe's elites including Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain are circling the talented Algerian winger.
