English Premier League outfit, Leicester City are optimistic about persuading Wilfred Ndidi,  to sign a new contract with the club, despite his current deal expiring at the end of last month, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Super Eagles defensive midfielder, has garnered attention from clubs in England and overseas.

However, according to the Telegraph, negotiations between the player and Leicester City are ongoing, with the club growing confident of reaching a mutually beneficial agreement.

The 27-year-old midfielder joined Leicester City from KRC Genk in the Belgian Pro League in January 2017.

Since his arrival, Ndidi has been an integral part of the team, contributing significantly to their successes. Notably, he played a crucial role in Leicester City's FA Cup victory in the 2020/21 season and their promotion to the Premier League last season.
