Leicester City have decided on appointing Steve Cooper as their new head coach, following a thorough recruitment process, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Foxes considered several candidates, including former Brighton and Chelsea manager Graham Potter, who was a strong contender for the role.

However, talks with Potter ultimately failed to progress due to issues on both sides.

Cooper, 44, according to SkySports emerged as the clear preferred candidate and has agreed to take the reins at the King Power Stadium, replacing Enzo Maresca, who guided the team to promotion back to the Premier League last season before departing for Chelsea.

Cooper, former Nottingham Forest manager was with the Tricky Trees for over two years before he was relieved when the team was languishing in 17th position on the league table after 13 matches.

Cooper who while with the Reds worked with Nigeria internationals Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi could as well be working with another Super Eagles star, Wilfred Ndidi if he manage to convince the midfielder to renew his contract.
