West Bromwich Albion striker Brown Ideye is a close friend of reported Baggies' left-back target David Addy, it has emerged.

Ideye and his wife attended a birthday party for Addy's one-year-old daughter in Accra last week with the players enjoying time off from the demands of club and international football this summer.

Addy was linked to West Brom on Wednesday as a potential solution to Tony Pulis' left-back problem after former target Neil Taylor signed a new contract at Swansea City.

The 25-year-old defender, who can also operate on the left wing, plays for Waasland-Beveren in Belgium and has been capped 17 times by Ghana, making his debut in 2008.

However, his chances of lining up alongside Ideye in an Albion shirt next season look remote with Pulis expected to offload the club's record signing if he can capture his top summer target Andre-Pierre Gignac on a free transfer.
