Leeds keep Noah Okafor after rejecting late transfer interest

Noah Okafor will remain a Leeds player after the club rejected several offers for the Switzerland midfielder, including an approach worth almost €40m shortly before the transfer deadline.

The latest development was reported on social media by respected transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who said Leeds turned down all attempts to sign the 26-year-old.

Leeds regard Okafor as one of the key players in their squad and were unwilling to sanction his departure despite the significant fee put forward for him. The player himself also wanted to stay at the club, meaning the two sides were aligned over his future as the deadline approached.

The offers were made late in the transfer window, when clubs were attempting to complete their final deals before business closed. However, Leeds maintained their position and chose to keep Okafor rather than accept any of the proposals received.

Okafor will therefore continue his career with Leeds, having established himself as an important member of the team. His contribution last season helped underline why the club were reluctant to consider a sale.

He made 28 appearances in the English Premier League during the previous campaign, scoring eight goals and providing one assist. Those figures made him a productive option for Leeds, and the club’s decision reflects the value it places on his role in the squad.

Although the reported offer was close to €40m, Leeds did not view the financial proposal as sufficient reason to part with a player they consider central to their plans. With Okafor also keen to remain, the transfer approaches failed to produce an agreement.

The Switzerland international is now expected to continue representing Leeds after the club rejected the late interest. His immediate future has been settled despite the volume and value of the offers made before the deadline.
