Le Havre Sign Super Eagles Striker Josh Maja on Free Transfer
French Ligue 1 side Le Havre have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Josh Maja on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Sky Bet Championship club West Bromwich Albion, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Super Eagles forward has signed a one-year contract with an option to extend his stay for an additional season and will wear the iconic No. 9 shirt at the Stade Océane.
Maja opted to leave West Brom after the Championship side's decision not to renew his deal, bringing an end to his three-year spell in England.
The move also sees the 27-year-old return to familiar territory, having previously enjoyed a productive stint in French football with Girondins Bordeaux between January 2019 and June 2023.
During his time at Bordeaux, Maja established himself as one of the club's most reliable attackers, scoring 25 league goals in 85 appearances before making the switch to West Bromwich Albion.
Le Havre will be hoping the Nigerian can rediscover that goalscoring form as they prepare for the 2026/27 Ligue 1 campaign.
Although injuries limited his impact during his time in England, Maja still managed to register 17 goals in 64 Championship appearances for the Baggies, highlighting the attacking quality he brings to his new club.
