Transfer experts, Fabrizio Romano reports the collapse in the deal after major agreements were reached by both parties.

"Samu Omorodion to Chelsea is 100% OFF", a post on his verified X handle says.

"Major issues confirmed and Omorodion will return to Madrid in the next hours…

…with serious chances to join another club in the next days.", the post reads.

The deal was a done deal some days ago with the two parties reported to have reached an agreement for a £35m fee which will see the Nigeria-eligible sign a seven-year contract.

All that was left were the routine medicals to be done until news surfaced on Sunday about a last minute challenge which ended the transfer.

The challenge according to reports is that Omorodion has not satisfactorily passed the medicals after he traveled from France following his triumph with the Spanish U-23 side who won the men's football Olympics tournament.

Chelsea are now seeking to bring in former loanee, João Félix from Athletico Madrid.
