LAFC on the road in Houston
LAFC and the Houston Dynamo are in action on Friday as the leaders of the Western Conference travel to Texas and a very soggy BBVA Compass Stadium.
With Hurricane Barry dumping huge amounts of rain on the Gulf Coast, it will be interesting to see if the game gets the go-ahead. LAFC will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing result two days ago when the Portland Timbers knocked them out of the US Open Cup. There will be no Double for LAFC this season, but they still lead the Western Conference by an impressive nine points over the Los Angeles Galaxy.
LAFC, 5/2 to win the MLS Cup, have lost just two games in the MLS all season, having lost to the Vancouver Whitecaps and, rather bizarrely, the Colorado Rapids. The Whitecaps and the Rapids are currently the bottom two teams in the Western Conference and there is an implication that LAFC may be mentally taking their foot off the gas when it comes to playing strugglers.
The Dynamo are certainly not that as they sit in the final Playoff place in the Conference, seventh, behind LAFC, the LA Galaxy, the Seattle Sounders, Minnesota United, FC Dallas and the San Jose Earthquakes. Houston are coming off a bad 3-2 loss to the expansion franchise FC Cincinnati and the Dynamo have lost four of their previous five outings.
Meanwhile, there are two other games on the MLS slate as the LA Galaxy welcome in the San Jose Earthquakes to Southern California while the New England Revolution travel to Washington to face DC United.
