Ex Ghana striker Felix Aboagye considers the exclusion of goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey from the Black Stars’ 2015 AFCON squad as a ‘blessing in disguise’.

The 27-year-old continues to be away from the Ghana national team following his public spat against the technical team in the wake of the side’s disappointing showing at the 2014 World Cup.

The Portland Timbers glovesman has refused to make himself available for international selection despite attempts made by the Ghana FA over a perceived rift with goalkeeper’s trainer Nassam Yakubu.

Kwarasey was thus not included in the Black Stars squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations – a decision former player Felix Aboagye has praised.

“I think it is good that he [Kwarasey] is not going [to 2015 AFCON] because it would be good for the cohesion of the team,” he said.

“Because of the events of Brazil 2014 I believe Kwarasey should only return after the Nations Cup.

“There is a new coach and everything so after the tournament they can sit and talk and solve every problem there is.”

Coach Avram Grant will now have to choose between the trio; Razak Braimah, Fatau Dauda and Ernest Sowah who will be his first choice goalkeeper for the Black Stars for the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.

Well said, Tanko. Adam Kwarasey has been treated very badly by our officials. Felix Aboagye's comments are very myopic!

Am sorry but I think this interview report shouldn't have been published at all. Am also sorry to say that we Ghanaians like to talk too much and sometimes end up making no sense but just noice. We should also develop the habit of being grateful

Mr Felix Aboagye,I think it's better to shut up than to spit a cabbage, I think you want a publicity, because nobody even remember you. as long as we have clueless Nasamu as goalkeepers trainer, Kwarasey will never return to Black Stars. The problem with these Mulats( Half-Cast) guys ( Kelvin and Kwarasey) is that, they were brought up on more civilized environment.so they will always speak their mind as long as they know they are right. but we Ghanaian,we were brought up in a culture of impunity, where a younger cannot express his feelings, and we regard a younger expressing his views as arrogant. It is not stupidity?. It's only in Africa that this phenomenon in still exist. I think they should not bother themselves to call these two guys, because they will not even come as long as we still lives in fool's paradise. Oh Afrika, wake up.

I am not quite sure where this Felix guy is coming from and if indeed he is a former player and where he sees the blessing in Kwarasey's omission on the Black Star's squad. We have to be supportive and understand our brothers born outside Ghana thus only an experienced coach can understand and manage their knowledge of the game. What he said about the GK coach was his feelings and in comparison to what he knows and used to and not an insult. You should know he is used to better GK trainers in Norway and that is the truth and also by far the best goalkeeper compared to the current 3 keepers combined . What does not knowing the Ghanaian language has to do with goal keeping. When I last checked, there are hundreds of our players playing all over the world who cannot not speak a word of French, Russian, Italian, Spanish or English to name a few but have excelled. How much Twi, Ga, Fanti, Ewe or Hausa does Kwarasey have to know to play in goal for the black stars? Please do me a favor, go back and watch Ghana's last game versus Brazil and let me know if his exclusion was indeed a blessing versus all the embarrassing goals scored on Fatau who has no sense of timing in all the goals he's allowed from corner kicks and crosses. Kwarasey's goal against US was a defensive error and not even the world's top goalie could have saved it. I hope and can only hope that Avram being an experienced coach that he is will bring him back to help us in that department. Go Ghana!!!
