Kovac keen to land Sane
Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac is confident the Bundesliga champions can persuade Manchester City's Leroy Sane to move to Germany this summer.
City manager Pep Guardiola recently indicated that he was keen to keep the 23-year-old, who moved to England from Schalke in the summer of 2016 for £37million.
Sane was a surprise omission from the Germany squad for World Cup 2018 and was only a peripheral figure in the second half of last season as City retained their Premier League title.
He has scored 25 goals in 68 Premier League starts and 21 substitute appearances during his three-year stay in the north-west of England.
Kovac said when asked about the possibility of Bayern clinching Sane's signature: "Our club management is very committed behind it and I am very confident. I assume that we can get him.
"Leroy is a great footballer who has proved that in England and with the national team."
Bayern are in the process of rebuilding their squad following the departures of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery and they have already snapped up Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard.
Guardiola said after last week's 6-1 victory against Hong Kong Premier League champions Kitchee when Sane scored twice: "He had a good game, especially in the second half.
"He is a guy we appreciate. I like him a lot. I think he can be better. Two times, three times I have said that we want him to stay.
"That's why he has an offer to extend his contract. It's not in our hands. The agreement is good and, if he wants to leave, I'll be sad. Hopefully, he stays."
Manchester City are 4/1 to win the Champions League in 2019/20 while Bayern Munich can be backed at 14/1.
