Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says he does not view Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Leicester City as a missed opportunity in the title race.

With champions Manchester City having surprisingly slipped up at Newcastle on Tuesday, the Reds had the chance to move seven points clear at the top of the table with a win over the Foxes at Anfield.

They made the perfect start when Sadio Mane scored after three minutes but were then frustrated by the visitors, who equalised on the stroke of half-time through Harry Maguire.

Leicester wasted several chances to take the lead in the second half, while Liverpool were denied a penalty after referee Martin Atkinson deemed Ricardo Pereira hadn't tripped Naby Keita in the box.

It was only the second time this season that Klopp's men had failed to win at Anfield in the Premier League but the draw still extends their lead over City to five points.

The Reds are now 1/2 to win a first top-flight title in 28 years, while the Citizens are 7/4.

Klopp was left frustrated by the decision not to award his side a penalty, while he also felt snow on the pitch had hindered his team.

However, rather than worry about failing to take advantage of City's shock loss, the German tactician preferred to concentrate on the fact Liverpool had moved a point further ahead in the title race.

"I don't see it like we dropped points. We take what we get, and tonight it's a point. It's more than we had before the game, and that's fine," said Klopp.

"Is it that I am now overly-happy? No, of course not because we wanted to win that game, but we knew before that it would be really difficult.

"So the 1-1 is absolutely OK. I think everyone agrees it could have been a penalty but I don't know why it was not given."

Liverpool are next in action on Monday night when they travel to West Ham.

The Reds are 1/3 for the win, while the home side are 7/1 and a draw at the London Stadium is 17/4.
