Liberty Professionals midfielder Kennedy Ashia has set his sights on winning the 2014/2015 Ghana Premier League goal king after his brace sunk BA United on Wednesday.

Ashia was playing his first match of the season after missing Liberty’s opener against Hasaacas due to national assignment.

His two goals at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman on Wednesday gave them a 2-0 win over the promoted side.

The former Ghana U20 midfielder told Dunkwa-On-Offin-based Solar FM: “I am particularly excited that the 2014/15 league season has started though I could not feature for my club on Match Day 1 due to a national assignment with the national U-23 team in Egypt.

“As players, we have been waiting for this and thankfully our hunger and desire to see the season start have been rewarded. I am thrilled and buzzing to go after scoring twice and I hope my form continues.

“I came so close to being crowned as the league’s top scorer two seasons ago with 14 goals and I would relish another opportunity of winning it this time round with the help of my team mates.”

Ashia is now joint top scorer in the two-week old Ghana Premier League with three others.
