Goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell is relishing the competition for places at Burnley, having joined the Clarets on a four-year deal from Leeds United.

The 22-year-old Northern Ireland international has moved to Turf Moor following the exit of England international Tom Heaton to Aston Villa, with Peacock-Farrell now in competition with Nick Pope and Joe Hart for a starting spot.

I would say it's probably a long-term project, but it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.

And the nine-times capped keeper accepts that he may have to bide his time to become a first-team regular under head coach Sean Dyche.

Peacock-Farrell told his new club's official website: "There's massive competition here, but it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down.

"The goalkeepers here are really good and two of them are England internationals. There's something going on here that must be right, so to come here and be part of it, is something I’m really excited about.

"I would say it's probably a long-term project, but it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up here."

Peacock-Farrell made 41 appearances in total for Leeds, having made his debut in April 2016 against Queens Park Rangers, while his international bow came in March 2018 against Panama.

Burnley are priced at 15/8 to be relegated in the upcoming campaign, while the Clarets are 1/9 to finish in the bottom half of the table.

Dyche's side begin their campaign at home to Southampton on Saturday 10th August and are 6/4 to make a winning start.
