Kaoru Mitoma could leave Brighton in January as Bayern Munich interest emerges

Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma could depart the club during the January transfer window, with an extension to his current contract now considered highly unlikely.

According to TEAMtalk, negotiations between Mitoma and Brighton have stalled, leaving little prospect of the Japan international agreeing a new deal. The situation has increased the possibility of the 29-year-old leaving in the winter window, while Bayern Munich have previously shown interest in him.

Mitoma has played for Brighton since 2021, but has not featured at all this season as he continues to recover from an injury.

His existing contract with the club expires next summer. Transfermarkt values the Japan forward at 22 million euros.
