Julian Alvarez reportedly favours Arsenal move over Barcelona

Julian Alvarez is now considering a move to Arsenal, having previously wanted to join Barcelona during the summer transfer window.

Atletico Madrid refused to let the Argentina forward leave, despite reports that the Spanish club was prepared to sell him. However, those reports suggested Atletico would be willing to negotiate with Arsenal rather than Barcelona.

According to The Touchline, citing journalist Guillem Balague, Alvarez is seriously considering a move to London in January. Arsenal has reportedly become his preferred destination, replacing Barcelona as his first-choice option.

The 26-year-old does not see a long-term future for himself at Atletico, according to the report.

Arsenal were prepared to pay more than £100m for Alvarez during the summer. The Premier League club could also include Victor Gyokeres or Noni Madueke as part of a deal for the forward.
